Operations
Electrical Check
- While underway
- GPS should show changing Lat/Lon
- Genset, if on, should show > 5 amp load
- 12v panel meter at 13 volts, and positive amps
- Breakers for "Sailing Instruments", "Autopilot",
and "VHF" should be ON
- DC-DC Converter on showing light
- Fuel should read at least 1/4 full
- 144v bank volts between 144 & 170 and Amps positive values
(Note: Volts actually read 14.4-17.0 Because
decimal point is off by one place)
- Motor switch should be on
- VHF Radio should be on
- SSB Radio should be off
- Computer Serial Port should have flickering light
- Computer "Power Brick" indicator should be on
- Computer and computer power light should be on and "Chart
Navigator Pro" should be running. The escape
key will turn on the display.
- Troubleshooting
- GPS should show changing Lat/Lon
- If it responds to button presses, but can't find satellites, then
we just need to wait till it locates them
- if it is frozen, and won't respond to changing button presses,
then the power cable in the back should be unplugged and then
plugged back in and the unit turned on again
- Genset, if on, should show > 5 amp load
- If it shows 0 amps then it has stalled. If < 5 amps it
should probably be turned off
- 12v panel meter at 13 volts, and positive amps
- The button under the display switches between volts and amps.
- The DC/DC converter must be on to charge the house battery
- Breakers for "Sailing Instruments", "Autopilot",
and "VHF" should be ON
- DC-DC Converter on showing light
- The switch should turn it on
- Fuel should read at least 1/4 full
- 144v bank volts between 144 & 170 and Amps positive values
(Note: Volts actually read 14.4-17.0 Because
decimal point is off by one place)
- The button on the left turns the display on, and
scrolls between four readings: Volts, Amps, AmpHrs used, and Time
Remaining
- Voltage too High: cause is overcharging due
to sailing speed. Correct by increasing throttle to bring amps
display on deck down to about 2 amps
- Voltage too Low: cause is throttle too high, or
speed too low, or fouled prop. Correct by adjusting
throttle, clearing prop, or starting genset
- Motor switch should be on
- VHF Radio should be on
- SSB Radio should be off
- Computer Serial Port should have flickering light
- Cause: the computer may have shut off, or the GPS may be locked
up. The computer should come on with the escape key.
If it has shut down turn it on with its power switch and
restart "Chart Navigator Pro" using icon in center of
window.
- Computer "Power Brick" indicator should be on
- If not, check that the computer is plugged in to
the standard 12v outlet around the left side of the instrument
complex and that the "outlets" breaker on the right side
of the panel is turned on.
- Computer and computer power light should be on and "Chart
Navigator Pro" should be running. The escape
key will turn on the display.
- Shield the light showing through a hole in the wood
to see if it is on.
